The story of my Integra...

I bought this car used and it had around 84,000 miles on it. It still runs great and I have not done any mods to the mechanical parts of this car. I have made some stereo improvements. I now have 179,000 miles on this integra and only have a few minor mechanical problems.

Currently I have stripped out the rear seats, everything in the trunk (side panels and rear panels also) beacause I beleive my tail lights are leaking around the seal. I haven't done anything about it yet, but I have seen some posts on www.g2ic.com that suggest using weatherstripping for repairing the problem instead buying the original seals from Acura. I like that idea because of the cost, but I'm curious how long that will last compared to the original seals.

I also have a leak in the front and according to the forums on the same site that is a problem with the seal around the fan blower box for the a/c and heater. This sounds a little more involved and I want to make sure I have all parts before I start this project.

Because of these leaks my carpet looks pretty bad. It has several moldy areas but it is still in good shape. Would it be possible to clean it? If so, what is the best thing to use?

After I get the leaks fixed, I'm considering getting some of that spray truck bed liner and spraying the inside of the trunk, side panels and anywhere else I can get to rather easily. I'm thinking this would help with noise inside the car and help the stereo noise stay inside the car, reduce vibrations, etc.

When I reinstall everything I'm also considering building a sort of platform to take the place of the crappy cardboard that goes in the trunk. I would like to take my 12" Comp. Kicker and install it in the floor facing up using the trunk cavity as the airspace. It would be raised about 4" higher than the where the cardboard sits now and would allow me to install my two amplifiers on each side of the trunk below the platform, but would still be accesible through removable panels. I think I can keep the spare tire installed and will still have enough room for the sub.

I have some mechanical questions if anyone has any answers. I would like to change the stock exhaust, but I don't want it to be loud. I would like something that is a perfomance package, don't want to spend a fortune, and would like it be as inconspicous as possible. I don't care for the "coffee can" exhaust, or as Neal Bortz said "the sound of a sheep farting". No disrespect to those who like it, that's just not me. I need something more practical.

The other problem I have is with the CV axles. I can't seem to get one that lasts more than about 2 years. Could it be a problem with the suspension?

Mine is the GS version and has ABS. My ABS light comes on after the car has been running for several minutes. Does it everytime. Haven't figured that out either.

I'll post some pictures when I get a chance. The paint looks pretty bad now, as I haven't taken care of it like I should have. If I get everything else fixed, I'll probably get it repainted.
